SKILLS TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
We give young people and women crucial employment skills through our training programmes. At our three local training centers, we offer free IT and tailoring courses and an organic farming skills initiative. These give people from oppressed communities the opportunity for well-paid and rewarding employment.
We are working with our tailoring students to create a women-led cooperative, to improve their work opportunities. We also employ our students directly at ADECOM.
ACTION THROUGH THEATRE
Our arts and culture group kootu-k-kural – or ‘Collective Voice’ – take action for oppressed people’s rights using traditional performance art. ADECOM staff and Volunteers stage street performance and theatre workshop. Together, they build awarness of important social issues and encourage positive behavior change in communities.
CAMPAIGNS AND ADVOCACY FOR VULNERABLE WOMEN
We work for social and policy changes that improve life for vulnerable women. We campaign to tackle social problems such as violence against women and alcohol abuse. We also work with state government and other institutions to ensure policies that protect and develop women are implemented.
We empower women to take action for their rights and agitate for change. Through our grassroots women’s organization, Ambedkar Pen gal Pagutharivu Iyyakkam, vulnerable women work together to tackle local challenges. Our field co-coordinators meet women daily to support them in securing rights, employment. Education and services for themselves and their families.
FREE LEGAL ADVOCACY
Our lawyers’ forum enables vulnerable women to seek legal protection and redress. It also offers guidance and training to enable women to pursue their legal rights.
