Guidelines for Sustainability Process to the ADECOM Network, E.F., Local Partners Groups (LPG)

Project Sustainability:

  • Dalit Women Federation and Dalit Youth Federation will be functioned autonomously.
  • The membership fee will be increased; the funds will be utilized for future activities.
  • Both Dalit Women Federation and Dalit Youth Federation will be organizing periodical meetings and collecting membership fee for the resource fund to ensure their complete involvement.
  • The forums will be functioned independently in the local areas, and also having a linkage with the State and National level Movements and other like minded forums.
  • As commissions and judicial intervention, with the support of ADECOM legal forums will support them.
  • Strengthening and more knowledgeable Women Action Committee, Youth Action Committee or Core Groups will be sharpened in forthcoming years.
  • Promoting them Social Empowerment, Economically and Politically.
  • ADECOM would be provided legal assistance to the Dalits in south Tamil Nadu, INDIA.

ADECOM Project sustainability for another 2 years:

Members in the partners groups, we are working as a collective for the next two years.

Ask the right questions on Project sustainability?

  • What are we doing? Do others know what we are doing? In our target areas, our district.

We work among the Dalit Women and Youth Federations and Core Groups (legal team) to fight for land rights, financial rights (SCP), and political Governance, especially to fight against the atrocities on Dalits. We have been working in 20 unions, 10 Districts in South Tamilnadu namely, Madurai, Sivagangai, Theni, Dindigul and Virudunagar, Cudalore, T.V.Mali, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Kumudipoondi.

The Dalit Collective Tamilnadu and Puducherry targeted activities:

· Campaigning Activities will be carried out in all Districts creating increased awareness on Right to Information Act and the implementation of the SC/ST Act.

· Solidarity with other like minded organization will be practiced by the centers.

· Posters, Notices, etc will be utilized to propagate issues and information.

· Creating awareness on steps and measures to access Government records in land Retrieval.

· The all Centers would engage in the follow-up process including counseling to victims upon training.

· Selected cadres will be motivated to participate in training programs, to be imparted with knowledge on fact finding techniques and maintaining records.

· Meeting for the awareness of access to government schemes to conduct for the cadres of all unions, Districts as and when required.

· Mass awareness among Dalits and Non Dalits on the Right to Information Act and SC/ST Act as well as evils such as Globalization and untouchability and how to fight back at the grass root level.

· Dalit Women Federation and Youth Cadres in all villages will participate in the Grama Sabha and Jama bandhi and be aware of the resolutions passed.

· Dalit women federation and Dalit women cadres were trained to motivate to develop their Political empowerment and enable their transition to mainstream politics

· Special component Plan (Separate Budget for dalits) landless Dalits demanding 5 acres lands are addressed at national level

· Trainings, Agitations, Demonstration, Campaigns, etc have enlightened the Dalit Women Federation and Youth Cadres both Men and Women members about their land rights, Basic amenities, Government Schemes and they’ve also realized the importance of asking the Government for a separate budget for Dalits

Strong local community organization will be act in all places. To get more awareness as well as strengthen to fight for Dalit rights. They must have local and National level linkages for peoples’ right’s based activities and struggles. The Forums should be functioned on our own capacity even their economic status.

Strategies for Sustainability

- Spreading awareness of, and enforcing Implementation of SC/ST (PA)

ACT 1989.

- Legal and Medical support to Dalits in distress.

- Enabling full Dalit participation in civil society and local governance bodies.

- Solidarity action with State and National level forums like NCDHR, NACDOR and Dalit Land Rights Movements

- Working to protect Dalit human rights through ensuring Land Rights, Separate Budget for Development, and active political participation.

- Strong Intervention with Judiciary and Commissions (at State, National and International Levels) like the states, national Human Rights Commissions, SC/ST commissions and the Commission for Women.
